Shine A Light Events
2016 Shine a light on lung cancer events raised more than $50,000 this November
We are thrilled to announce that the 2016 Shine a light on lung cancer awareness and fundraising campaign raised more than $50,000 for lung cancer research.
This year’s events included a Gala Ball, 4 community walks, 10 morning teas/lunches, 10 hospital information stands and a movie night. A big thank you to Riverside Girls High School who raised over $2,000 in last week of November and to all our wonderful patients, supporters, nurses and researchers who helped us exceed our fundraising target.
Lung Foundation Australia is extremely pleased to confirm that the combined 2015 and 2016 Shine a light on Lung Cancer events have raised close to $100,000. These funds will be directly invested in lung cancer research. Our aim is to leverage these funds to ensure the maximum return on investment and ensure the quality of the research undertaken will improve outcomes for Australians living with lung cancer.
The Lung Foundation will announce the Shine a Light on lung cancer research awards at the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) Conference in Canberra in March 2017.
JOIN OUR SHINE A LIGHT ON LUNG CANCER CRUSADE
November is International Lung Cancer Awareness Month and we are encouraging Australians who have been touched by lung cancer to come together and help raise awareness about this unspoken disease. However, we encourage you to host a Shine a light event at a time that suits you.
Our shine a light on lung cancer events bring together survivors, patients, their family and friends, health professionals, clinicians, and researchers as one resilient voice in support of more research funding and earlier diagnosis of lung cancer.
We’re invite you to host a Shine a Light event – they can be as small or as big as you like. They may be a morning tea with your family, a walk with friends, a BBQ or sausage sizzle, or a cake stall at your school.
Shine a Light events are a beautiful way to commemorate those people touched by this devastating disease, as well as being an opportunity to share and celebrate survival stories.
